Henry E. Burrell joined the Navy on March 29, 1943 and was assigned to the Texas on June 3, 1943. He went to Sampson New York for boot camp. His Unit was C-7 C.O. 155. This information came from the back of his group picture from Sampson. The group picture on the ship was taken a short while after he got on board. On the back of the picture, it just has 1943. His duties consisted of caring for 20mm guns. His general quarters station was powder rammer on a 14 inch gun. His air defense station was gunner on a 20 mm gun. He was in the 5th Division.
