From the photo album of Mr. Harold Bailey, former crew member of the USS Texas during the WWI era.

 They are from the photo album their father put together while aboard the USS Texas. The sailors name is Harold A. Bailey born on July 4, 1895 in Aledo, Illinois. He joined the Navy at DesMoine, Iowa in 1917 and was discharged at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1919 as a F/2c (Fireman Second class Petty Officer). He was more than likely assigned to the Boiler Rooms while aboard the Texas. After his tour in the Navy he worked as a Pressman at Logan Printing Co. in Peoria, Illinois for fifty years. His passion was the outdoors, fishing, hunting.

 He passed away June 2, 1969.

The Dutch liner Rijndam and a cargo ship collide off the east coast of the U.S. on May 26, 1915. The USS Texas assisted the ship to a safe return to port.
