Matthew
Rector Tiffany (1904-1989)
Matthew Rector Tiffany (1904-1989). The
photo was taken about 1921. He served from 1919-1923. He had 4 sisters
who were all much older, and all school teachers, thus he finished his
high school studies when he was 15 and immediately joined up with the
Navy and was eventually assigned to the Texas.
He served in WWII as well, aboard the
USS Plymouth, which was sunk by a U-boat just about a month after
he received his discharge in 1943.
